Panaji, Goa: The Goa Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has stepped up inspections across restaurants, cloud kitchens, and other food establishments in the state as rising temperatures increase the risk of food spoilage and foodborne illnesses.
The intensified drive is aimed at ensuring that food businesses strictly adhere to hygiene standards, proper refrigeration practices, and safe food storage protocols. Inspection teams are checking whether perishable items are being stored at the required temperatures, kitchen premises are being maintained in sanitary conditions, and food is being prepared and handled in accordance with prescribed safety norms.
Officials have warned that high summer temperatures can accelerate bacterial growth if food is not stored or handled correctly, posing serious health risks to consumers. Establishments found violating food safety regulations may face penalties or further action under the relevant provisions of the law.
The FDA has also urged restaurant owners, cloud kitchen operators, and food handlers to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and regularly monitor refrigeration systems to ensure the quality and safety of food served to customers.
Consumers have been encouraged to report unhygienic practices or suspected food safety violations to the concerned authorities. The inspection drive is expected to continue across Goa in the coming weeks as part of the department’s efforts to safeguard public health.
