Vehicular movement along the Anmod Ghat stretch of the Belagavi–Goa highway has been severely disrupted after a section of the road caved in, likely due to continuous rainfall in the region.
Authorities have restricted traffic to single-lane movement, with traffic police personnel deployed to regulate the flow of vehicles and ensure public safety. The damaged stretch is located approximately 10 kilometers from Mollem, near the Dudhsagar temple route.
Officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) and local administration have inspected the site. Repair work is currently underway, with efforts focused on stabilizing the roadbed and restoring the affected portion. Concrete pouring has begun as a temporary measure, while long-term reinforcement plans are being evaluated.
Due to safety concerns, heavy vehicles have been barred from using the ghat section for the next two months. However, light vehicles and public transport are being allowed to pass under close monitoring.
Motorists using this route have been urged to drive cautiously, particularly during the monsoon season, as the area remains vulnerable to landslides and further damage. Commuters have also reported delays and congestion, especially during peak hours.
Authorities are expected to continue monitoring the site for any further deterioration and provide updates as repair work progresses.
