The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court in Mapusa has convicted a Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) bus driver for rash and negligent driving in connection with an incident that occurred near O’Coqueiro Junction in September 2025.

The court imposed a fine of ₹5,000 on the accused and directed that, in the event of non-payment, the driver would undergo three days of simple imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, the incident took place on September 5, 2025, when the driver was allegedly operating a Kadamba bus in a reckless and negligent manner near O’Coqueiro Junction, posing a serious risk to passengers, commuters, and other road users.

After examining the evidence presented during the trial, the JMFC Court found the driver guilty of endangering public safety through negligent driving. The conviction serves as a reminder of the legal consequences of reckless driving and reinforces the importance of adhering to road safety norms, particularly for public transport operators entrusted with the safety of passengers.

The judgment underscores the judiciary’s continued emphasis on promoting responsible driving practices and ensuring accountability among motorists whose actions put lives at risk.
