Goa’s Cyber Crime Cell has arrested Surinder Kumar, a 19-year-old resident of Ludhiana, Punjab, for allegedly duping a local Goan resident of ₹18 lakh through a cyber scam.

The victim was reportedly contacted on WhatsApp, where the accused pretended to be a CBI officer. Using this fake identity, the suspect coerced the individual into transferring large sums of money. The fraud reportedly began on June 3. Acting on the complaint, investigators used technical surveillance methods to trace the suspect’s location and facilitate his arrest in Punjab. Surinder Kumar has been taken into custody and brought to Goa for further investigation. The police are continuing the probe to identify possible accomplices or related cases.
