Aldona MLA, Carlos Alvares Ferreira has issued a sharp critique of the Goa Police, urging the removal of the Crime Branch SP and disbanding of the unit, citing multiple operational failures.

Ferreira pointed to high-profile cases where law enforcement failed to act: Hyderabad police had to arrest a drug suspect connected to Goa, and Gujarat authorities intervened in a liquor excise matter tied to Goa distilleries. He also raised alarms about an ongoing terror-linked investigation in Goa, reflecting what he describes as “a clear breakdown of internal policing systems.” He called the Crime Branch “inefficient and compromised,” stressing that outsourcing such cases to other states undermines Goa’s sovereignty and public trust. Ferreira demanded immediate suspension of the SP overseeing the branch, arguing that systemic reform is necessary to restore accountability and faith in Goa’s law enforcement.
