A portion of the false ceiling in the Western music classroom at Kala Academy, Panaji, collapsed recently. Thankfully, no one was injured as the room was unoccupied at the time. Authorities have temporarily closed the affected space and initiated a structural assessment to determine the cause. This is not the first such incident—previous collapses, including one in 2024 following heavy rains, have sparked renewed questions about the quality of recent renovations and ongoing maintenance. The cultural hub, which underwent a major refurbishment costing over ₹50 crore, continues to face scrutiny over construction safety and oversight.
