Panaji, July 2025 – Goa’s Labour and Employment Minister Babush Monserrate has stated that over 250 job vacancies are currently available in pharmaceutical companies across the state, but not a single Goan candidate has applied. He expressed disappointment over the lack of local interest despite the availability of opportunities.
During the Assembly session, the minister also criticized unemployment figures released by NITI Aayog, claiming they do not accurately reflect the real situation in Goa. He suggested that the data was misleading and failed to capture the nuances of employment patterns in the state.
The minister did not outline any new initiatives or outreach strategies to bridge the gap between employers and job seekers but highlighted the need for better awareness and engagement among Goans regarding job opportunities in local industries.
