Goa Forward MLA Vijai Sardesai has accused the ruling party MLAs of engaging in a “ballot scam” after they abstained from voting on a Private Member Resolution in the Goa Legislative Assembly. He claimed this was a deliberate tactic to avoid accountability. Sardesai pointed out that two senior MLAs – Michael Lobo and Ganesh Gaonkar, had previously skipped voting and written responses for the 1A questions, which he said reflected a broader culture of evasion.

“This deliberate abstention after receiving ballots shows a manipulation of the democratic process,” Sardesai stated. He demanded an investigation into the conduct of assembly members and urged election officials to ensure transparency in such votes. No official response has yet come from the ruling party, but the issue has ignited debate over legislative ethics and voting procedures in the state assembly
