He claimed contractors were forced to pay bribes to get files cleared, criticising that the “administration has weakened”
Gaude’s statements triggered backlash. BJP state president Damu Naik and the party’s central leadership were consulted. By early June, BJP leadership decided his remarks crossed party lines “party discipline is a must. CM Sawant announced that action would follow.
On June 18, Gaude was formally dropped from the cabinet. The state governor accepted CM Sawant’s recommendation. The Chief Minister confirmed it was his decision finalised in consultation with the BJP’s central command. Portfolios held by Gaude have been reverted to the CM
Reacting to his removal on Goa Revolution Day (June 18), Gaude tweeted that his dismissal was a “reward” for speaking up for tribal and marginalised communities.
