Mapusa Police have arrested three individuals – Sumit Maheshwar Fadte, Raju Krishna Mandrekar, and Raja Anthony for allegedly duping a woman of ₹9.75 lakh in a fraudulent land deal involving a Comunidade plot in Cunchelim.
The complainant, a resident of Cunchelim, claimed the trio falsely assured her of legal ownership of a 270 sqm plot and collected the full amount without executing the sale or returning the funds. After multiple attempts to resolve the matter, she filed a complaint leading to their arrest. All three accused have been remanded to four days in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities are also probing the legitimacy of the land documents and whether others may be involved.
