A woman sustained serious injuries in an alleged hit-and-run accident near Bhageshwar Temple on the Talaulim–Ponda road after being struck by a speeding vehicle.
The injured woman was rushed to the Goa Medical College and Hospital for treatment, where she is currently undergoing medical care.
According to reports, the driver, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, fled the scene after the collision but later lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an electricity pole a short distance away. Local residents intervened, detained the driver, and handed him over to the police.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining the circumstances surrounding the crash. Appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
