Nashik Medical Student Arrested in NEET Paper Leak

A major breakthrough has been made in the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case with the arrest of a 30-year-old BAMS student from Nashik, Maharashtra. The accused, identified as Shubham Khairnar, was apprehended as investigators intensified their probe into what is believed to be a multi-state examination leak network.

According to investigators, Khairnar allegedly purchased the leaked NEET-UG question paper for ₹10 lakh from another suspect before selling it to a candidate in Haryana for ₹15 lakh. Police claim he received a physical copy of the paper in Nashik and later circulated a digital version to contacts in other states ahead of the examination.

Officials further alleged that the accused attempted to evade arrest by changing his appearance, including cutting his hair, before he was eventually taken into custody. Investigators are now examining his role in the larger conspiracy and tracing financial transactions and communication records linked to the alleged racket.

The investigation has reportedly uncovered a multi-state network spanning Maharashtra, Haryana, Kerala, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is continuing its probe to identify all those involved and determine the full extent of the alleged paper leak.

The case has once again raised serious concerns over the integrity of competitive entrance examinations, with authorities assuring strict action against anyone found involved in the alleged malpractice. Further arrests and developments are expected as the investigation progresses.
