Savoi-Verem: Prompt community action helped restore traffic movement in Savoi-Verem after a massive tree, uprooted by heavy rains, fell across the road near Anant Temple, blocking vehicular access and causing inconvenience to commuters.
Following the incident, local residents, along with Panch member Akshay Naik, came together to remove the fallen tree from the roadway. Working collectively, they cleared the obstruction and reopened the stretch, allowing traffic to resume smoothly.
The tree is believed to have collapsed due to the continuous heavy rainfall experienced across the region, which has left the soil weakened and increased the risk of trees being uprooted. Although the incident caused temporary disruption, no injuries or damage to vehicles were reported.
Residents appreciated the swift response from volunteers and community members who acted without delay to ensure that the road was made safe and accessible. The collective effort was widely praised as an example of community spirit and cooperation during adverse weather conditions.
With the monsoon continuing to bring heavy showers across Goa, citizens have been urged to remain cautious while travelling, especially in areas prone to falling trees, waterlogging, and other weather-related hazards. Authorities have also been requested to inspect vulnerable trees along public roads to prevent similar incidents in the future.
