Panaji has been recognised among India’s cleanest cities, receiving the Presidential Award in Swachh Survekshan 2024. This national-level recognition comes as a result of the city’s outstanding efforts in urban cleanliness, sanitation, and sustainable development under the Smart City Mission. The award will be officially presented on July 17 in New Delhi, where Panaji Mayor Rohit Monserrate and City Commissioner Clen Madeira will accept the honour on behalf of the city. This milestone highlights the success of Panaji’s cleanliness and waste management initiatives, including community involvement and zero-landfill practices. The city’s leadership credited the achievement to strong teamwork between the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), local residents, and the Smart City team.
