Panaji, Goa – July 9, 2025
The Goa Cabinet has approved the Animal Breeding and Domestication (Regulation & Compensation) Bill 2025, aimed at prohibiting the import, sale, and breeding of Pitbulls and Rottweilers across the state. This decision follows several recent dog attack cases in North Goa, raising serious safety concerns.

The proposed bill will be introduced in the upcoming monsoon session of the Assembly and includes provisions for mandatory registration and sterilization of these breeds for existing owners. Non-compliance may attract penalties. The move aligns with national guidelines and seeks to ensure public safety while regulating aggressive dog breeds more effectively.
