The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) successfully rescued two foreign nationals-reportedly American and Turkish citizens after their U.S.-flagged sailing yacht, Sea Angel, became stranded roughly 53 nautical miles southeast of Indira Point, Nicobar Islands. The rescue operation was launched after the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), Port Blair, received an alert via the U.S. Consulate in Chennai. The Coast Guard vessel ICGS Rajveer was immediately dispatched and braved challenging sea conditions to reach the distressed yacht.

The vessel had suffered propulsion failure due to a damaged sail and entangled propeller. Upon arrival, the ICG team confirmed that both crew members were safe and in stable condition. The yacht was later towed safely to Campbell Bay Harbour. This swift and coordinated response underscores the Indian Coast Guard’s continued commitment to maritime safety and international cooperation at sea.
