Panaji, July 28, 2025 – The Goa government has clarified that no official decision has been made regarding the headquarters of the proposed third district, even though Curchorem was referenced in the Cabinet documentation as a potential location. The clarification comes after public and media speculation following the recent Cabinet approval to create a new district comprising the Canacona, Quepem, Sanguem, and Dharbandora talukas. In response, state officials emphasized that the process is still under review and no location has been confirmed as the administrative hub. Vijay Saxena, Director of Planning, Statistics and Evaluation, stated that any mention of Curchorem in internal notes should not be taken as a final decision. The government will make an official announcement once a decision is finalized after further evaluation and consultation.
