The group, which included local leaders Savio Coutinho, Mathin Karol, Anwar Naroo, Khan Mainudin, and Welfred, submitted a memorandum highlighting the inordinate delay in starting the project despite the land being acquired over a decade ago. They urged Mr. Alemao to intervene and push for the removal of technical hurdles under the current Town and Country Planning (TCP) guidelines, which limit construction to only 2,500 square meters of the 30,000 square meter plot. According to the delegation, this restriction allows for just 40–50 graves—far too few to serve the community’s long-term needs. Although the land demarcation has been completed following court orders, the project continues to face obstacles, particularly related to access rights and regulatory permissions. The Congress leaders demanded faster action, calling for policy amendments and immediate commencement of construction to ensure the community has a dignified final resting place.
