Goa Forward Party MLA Vijai Sardesai has sharply criticized the Mhadei House Committee, calling it ineffective after a media outlet released video footage allegedly showing illegal water diversion at Bhandura. Sardesai stated that the video serves as concrete proof and is no longer just a matter of speculation.
Expressing disappointment with the committee’s lack of response, Sardesai warned that if no action is taken, he may withdraw from the panel altogether. He described the committee as a “farce” and accused it of failing in its duty to protect Goa’s water resources. The Mhadei river dispute has long been a contentious issue between Goa and Karnataka, with ongoing legal and political battles over alleged diversion of water by Karnataka under the Kalasa-Bhandura project. Sardesai’s remarks add to mounting pressure on state leaders to act decisively in defending Goa’s interests.
