Goa’s Leader of the Opposition, Yuri Alemao, has voiced concern over the growing marginalization of minority communities in India, particularly in Goa. He pointed out that Goan Catholics are often ridiculed and labeled as Portuguese nationals, while Indian Catholics are branded as being loyal to Rome. Similarly, he said that Indian Muslims are unfairly accused of being loyal to Pakistan.

Alemao warned that such narratives are fostering fear and insecurity among minority communities. He called on the government and society to uphold secular values and preserve Goa’s long-standing tradition of communal harmony.
