2025–26 ISL Season Delayed Due to Dispute Over League Agreement

The start of the 2025–26 Indian Super League (ISL) season has been postponed, as announced by Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL). The decision comes amid unresolved negotiations with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) over the Master Rights Agreement (MRA), which expires on December 8, 2025.

FSDL informed clubs that it cannot proceed with preparations for the new season until the terms of the agreement are clarified. The company cited the need for operational and commercial certainty to move forward with organising the league. In response, the AIFF acknowledged the importance of the ISL to Indian football but noted that any renewal of the agreement must comply with current legal directions. The Supreme Court has reportedly placed restrictions on the renewal of the MRA until further notice, adding a legal dimension to the ongoing standoff.
