A goods carrier overturned on the Atal Setu bridge on Thursday evening after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to cross into the opposite lane. The accident briefly disrupted traffic movement on the bridge before police and emergency personnel cleared the affected stretch and restored the flow of vehicles.
The injured driver was rushed to Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, for treatment. Officials confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the mishap, preventing what could have been a far more serious incident.
Police reached the scene promptly and initiated an inquiry into the circumstances that led to the accident. Preliminary information suggests that adverse weather conditions, including rain and strong winds, may have played a role, though the exact cause is yet to be determined.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise extra caution while driving during the monsoon season, reminding road users to maintain safe speeds, stay alert, and adapt to changing weather conditions to prevent accidents.
