Goa Forward Party MLA Vijai Sardesai has extended support to the residents of Chimbel in their fight to protect local water resources and the surrounding environment. Addressing the concerns raised by villagers, Sardesai said the party stands firmly with the community in safeguarding their water rights and preserving the area’s ecological balance.
Sardesai expressed concern over projects and activities that residents believe could adversely affect local water sources and the environment. He stressed that development should not come at the cost of natural resources or the livelihoods of local communities, adding that the voices of affected residents must be heard before any major decisions are taken.
The MLA urged the government and the concerned authorities to engage with the villagers, conduct transparent environmental assessments, and ensure that all legal procedures are followed before implementing projects that may impact the area.
Reiterating his support, Sardesai said, “We are with the Chimbel villagers,” and assured residents that their concerns would be raised at the appropriate forums. He called for a balanced approach that protects both development interests and Goa’s fragile environment.
