Clarification Issued on MP Capt. Viriato Fernandes’s Electoral Form Status
In a recent administrative development, election officials have issued a formal clarification regarding the electoral form of Member of Parliament Capt. Viriato Fernandes. The situation was brought to light during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, a standard procedure conducted to update, verify, and rectify discrepancies within the region’s electoral rolls. The clarification was prompted after a hearing notice was issued to the MP, aiming to explain the procedural anomalies that led to the notification.
According to the statement released by the authorities, the issue stemmed from incomplete data on the MP’s enumeration form. Officials disclosed that the submitted document lacked critical identifying details required for accurate voter registration mapping. Specifically, the form was missing essential information such as the Assembly Constituency, along with the Part and Serial numbers. Consequently, because the system could not properly locate his details within the established electoral framework, the form was automatically relegated to the “unmapped” category.
This “unmapped” designation is what triggered the automated generation of a hearing notice, a standard protocol designed to resolve such discrepancies. The Joint Mamlatdar-III of Mormugao Taluka addressed the situation, clarifying that the notice was purely a procedural consequence of the missing data rather than an irregularity on the MP’s part. The official confirmed that the matter is currently under formal inquiry to rectify the omissions and properly map the electoral details.
