The Goa Police Crime Branch has busted a cyber fraud racket involving fake parcel delivery messages and arrested 38-year-old Susanta Bhue from Odisha in connection with the case. The arrest followed an investigation into a complaint filed by a Goa Velha resident who was allegedly cheated of ₹85,238 through a fraudulent SMS claiming a reattempt of a parcel delivery.
Investigators traced the accused to Sambalpur district in Odisha and found evidence suggesting the use of bulk SMS campaigns to distribute phishing links across the country. Police said the operation was linked to multiple online scams, including fake parcel deliveries, credit card reward frauds, gaming payout scams, and fraudulent part-time job offers.
The accused was brought to Goa and remanded to police custody. Further investigation is underway to identify additional suspects and the full extent of the cyber fraud network. Authorities have advised citizens to remain vigilant against suspicious SMS messages and phishing links.
