A Vasco resident has allegedly been cheated of ₹24.94 lakh after being promised employment on a ship by a couple from Chicalim. The case has been registered by Vasco Police following a complaint lodged by Flyan Colaco, a resident of Vaddem, Vasco.

According to the complaint, the accused, identified as Richard Swamy and Rajeshwari Achari, allegedly collected ₹24,94,649 from the complainant between January 2023 and August 2024. The money was reportedly taken in multiple installments on the assurance that they would arrange a job for him aboard a vessel.
Police said the accused repeatedly assured the victim that the recruitment process was underway and that employment would be secured shortly. Trusting these promises, the complainant continued to make payments over an extended period. However, despite receiving the money, the accused allegedly failed to provide the promised job opportunity and did not return the amount.
After realizing that he had been deceived, the victim approached Vasco Police, who subsequently registered a case of cheating and initiated an investigation. Officers are examining financial transactions and other evidence related to the case.
