Legislators pay tribute to Birch Fire Victims

Legislators across party lines paid tribute to the victims of the tragic Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub fire during the observance of Goa Legislators’ Day. Members of the Goa Legislative Assembly remembered the 25 people who lost their lives in the devastating blaze at Arpora in December 2025 and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.

A solemn one-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the victims. Several legislators stressed the need for accountability and stronger enforcement of fire safety regulations to prevent similar tragedies in the future. The tribute came amid continuing public concern over the circumstances that led to the fire and the ongoing investigation into the incident.

The Birch fire remains one of Goa’s deadliest recent disasters, claiming 25 lives and injuring several others. The tragedy has sparked widespread calls for justice, stricter safety compliance, and action against those responsible for regulatory lapses.

Legislators reiterated their commitment to ensuring that lessons are learned from the tragedy and that measures are put in place to safeguard public safety across the state.
