Despite receiving above-normal pre-monsoon rainfall, Goa continues to experience intense heat and oppressive humidity, with the “feels-like” temperature soaring beyond 48°C in several parts of the state.
Meteorological experts attribute the discomfort to high moisture levels in the atmosphere, which significantly increase the heat index and make temperatures feel much hotter than actual readings. Warm nights and limited cooling after sunset have further added to the discomfort, leaving residents struggling with prolonged heat stress.
Weather observers also point out that the delayed onset of the monsoon over Kerala could potentially affect the arrival of monsoon rains in Goa, extending the current spell of hot and humid conditions.
Health authorities advise residents to remain cautious by staying hydrated, avoiding direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, and taking necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses.
With humidity levels remaining high and monsoon clouds yet to establish themselves over the region, Goans may have to endure a few more days of challenging weather conditions before substantial relief arrives.
