A major fuel consignment was successfully unloaded at Mormugao Port as the tanker MV Sanmar Sitar discharged approximately 26,000 metric tonnes of fuel, strengthening the region’s fuel supply and highlighting the port’s vital role in Goa’s maritime trade and energy logistics.
The large-scale unloading operation was carried out under established safety protocols, with port authorities and terminal personnel overseeing the transfer to ensure efficient handling of the cargo. Such operations are a routine yet critical part of maintaining a steady supply of petroleum products for Goa and neighbouring regions.
Mormugao Port continues to serve as one of India’s key maritime gateways, handling a wide range of cargo including petroleum products, coal, iron ore, containers, and other essential commodities. The arrival and discharge of fuel tankers like MV Sanmar Sitar play an important role in supporting industrial operations, transportation, and the state’s overall energy requirements.
Officials stated that the successful completion of the unloading process reflects the port’s operational efficiency and its capability to manage large cargo vessels while adhering to stringent safety and environmental standards.
The movement of such substantial fuel consignments ensures uninterrupted availability of petroleum products and reinforces Mormugao Port’s strategic importance in the country’s maritime and energy infrastructure.
