Daily Porvorim Gridlock Worsens Amid Road Closures, Dust Clouds Trouble Commuters

Commuters travelling through Porvorim are facing severe traffic congestion, with journeys on short stretches taking between 30 and 45 minutes due to ongoing road closures and traffic diversions.

In addition to the delays, heavy dust pollution from the roadworks has become a major concern. Thick clouds of dust are causing breathing difficulties and eye irritation, particularly affecting two-wheeler riders, pedestrians, and roadside vendors who are exposed to the conditions for extended periods.

Residents and daily commuters have urged the authorities to implement immediate traffic management measures, improve diversion planning, and ensure regular water sprinkling to control dust. They have also called for enhanced safety arrangements, including proper signage, barricades, and traffic personnel at key junctions to ease congestion and reduce the risk of accidents.

The worsening situation has highlighted the urgent need for coordinated traffic and public safety measures until the roadworks are completed.
