A Goa Children’s Court has sentenced Indu Rizwan, a 35-year-old man from Bhopal, to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹35,000 for the 2017 abduction of a three-year-old girl from Margao railway station, with the intent of forcing her into begging. The incident occurred in November 2017, when the child was sleeping with her family on Platform 1. Her sister noticed her missing and raised an alarm. Surveillance footage later confirmed Rizwan had taken the child. After abducting her, he moved across cities – Mumbai, Surat, and Bhopal where he allegedly forced her to beg on the streets. After almost a year, Bhopal Police spotted the duo at a railway platform. Rizwan was unable to establish the child’s identity or show any valid documentation. The girl was rescued and placed in a child care facility.

The case was cracked following a coordinated investigation involving the Konkan Railway Police, Goa Police, and Railway Protection Force (RPF). The probe was led by then-PI Harish Madkaikar, now serving as Superintendent of Police.
