In a significant crackdown on illicit drug trafficking in the state, the Goa Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) has apprehended a resident of Mapusa following a major narcotics seizure. The accused was allegedly found in possession of 127 grams of cocaine, a high-value contraband. Authorities have estimated the street value of the confiscated drugs to be approximately ₹65 lakh, marking it as a substantial haul for local law enforcement aiming to curb the distribution of hard drugs in the coastal state.
The arrest was the result of a targeted, intelligence-driven operation executed directly at the suspect’s residence. ANC operatives conducted a raid on the Mapusa property, which led to the successful recovery of the hidden narcotics. This targeted residential seizure highlights the ANC’s ongoing efforts to disrupt local supply chains and root out the storage and distribution of illegal substances within community neighborhoods.
Following his apprehension, the accused was formally arrested and presented before the relevant judicial authorities. The court has remanded the Mapusa man to seven days of police custody to allow for a thorough and unimpeded investigation. During this custodial period, law enforcement officials are expected to interrogate the suspect extensively to trace the origin of the seized cocaine, identify potential accomplices or buyers, and dismantle the broader network involved in this narcotics operation.
