Panaji: The ongoing protest at Mirabag was called off after Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant assured agitators that the remark linked to the Bandara project file would be cancelled and cases registered against protesters would be withdrawn.
The decision comes following discussions between the protesting groups and government representatives, during which key demands raised by the agitators were reportedly addressed. The Chief Minister’s assurance played a crucial role in defusing the situation and bringing the protest to an amicable conclusion.
Protesters had been opposing aspects related to the Bandara project file, demanding transparency and reconsideration of certain decisions. Tensions had escalated in the area over the issue, prompting calls for dialogue between the authorities and the affected groups.
Following the government’s assurance, protest leaders announced the withdrawal of the agitation, stating that their primary concerns had been acknowledged. They also expressed hope that the promised actions would be implemented in a timely manner.
Authorities have confirmed that steps will be taken as per the Chief Minister’s assurance, including reviewing the relevant file and initiating the process for withdrawal of cases against the protesters.
The situation in the area has now returned to normal, with officials urging all parties to maintain peace and continue resolving issues through dialogue.
