Calangute Police Launch Crackdown on Public Drinking

The Calangute Police Station has launched a special enforcement drive against individuals found consuming alcohol in public places as part of efforts to maintain public order and ensure a safer environment for residents and visitors.

According to police, action will be taken against those violating laws prohibiting the consumption of alcohol in public spaces. The initiative forms part of a broader effort to curb public nuisance, improve civic discipline, and enhance safety in one of Goa’s busiest tourist destinations.

Police officials have stated that regular patrols and inspections will be carried out in identified public areas, with cases being registered against violators in accordance with the applicable legal provisions. The drive is intended to discourage public drinking and promote responsible behaviour in public spaces.

Calangute attracts a large number of domestic and international tourists throughout the year, making law enforcement and public order key priorities for local authorities. Officials have urged both residents and visitors to respect public regulations and avoid activities that may cause inconvenience or disturbance to others.

The enforcement campaign also serves as a reminder that while licensed establishments are permitted to serve alcohol in accordance with the law, the consumption of alcohol in prohibited public places can attract legal action.

Authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate with the police and follow the law to help maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment in Calangute. The Goa Monitor will continue to provide updates on this and other law enforcement initiatives across the state
