Club Vibes & Soho Sealed Over Major Violations

Two prominent clubs in Goa — Club Vibes in Ribandar and Soho in Panaji — have been sealed by authorities following inspections that uncovered serious regulatory and safety violations. The action, carried out by local enforcement teams, has sparked discussions about compliance and accountability within Goa’s nightlife industry.

According to officials, Club Vibes was found operating without a valid Fire NOC (No Objection Certificate), Consent to Operate, and other mandatory permissions required under state regulations. The property, reportedly owned by Anil Hoble and leased to a private operator, was shut down after inspectors confirmed multiple lapses in safety and documentation.

Similarly, Soho, located in Panaji, was sealed for lacking a Fire NOC and failing to meet essential safety standards. Authorities stated that both establishments had been functioning despite repeated warnings to obtain proper clearances.

An official from the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services emphasized that the crackdown was part of a broader initiative to ensure public safety. “We cannot allow venues to operate without fire safety compliance. These measures are meant to protect lives,” the official said.

The inspection drive was reportedly triggered after recent incidents highlighting fire hazards in entertainment venues across the state. Teams from the Goa Police, Fire Department, and Municipal authorities conducted joint checks, focusing on crowd management, emergency exits, and structural safety.

Local residents and patrons expressed mixed reactions to the closures. While some supported the enforcement of safety norms, others lamented the impact on Goa’s nightlife economy. “Safety should come first, but authorities must also streamline the licensing process,” said a regular visitor to Ribandar’s club circuit.

The Tourism Department has reiterated its commitment to maintaining safety standards while promoting responsible entertainment. Officials have urged all establishments to review their compliance documents and renew expired licenses immediately.

The sealing of Club Vibes and Soho serves as a reminder of the growing scrutiny on Goa’s nightlife sector, which has faced challenges balancing tourism appeal with regulatory oversight. Investigations into both properties are ongoing, and further action may be taken depending on the findings.
