COLVA VILLAGERS STORM POLICESTATION OVER POLICE ACTION

Mapusa Police have arrested a 29-year-old man, identified as Luis Savio Ronaldo Fernandes, for allegedly abusing medical personnel at a local healthcare facility. Fernandes, a resident of Sangolda, was taken into custody following a disruptive incident at the North Goa District Hospital. Police stated that the confrontation occurred while the hospital staff were actively discharging their duties.

According to additional reports, the altercation took place in the hospital’s casualty ward around 10:00 p.m. Fernandes had reportedly been brought to the facility by an emergency ambulance after sustaining injuries in a road traffic accident in Sangolda. Rather than cooperating with the medical team attempting to treat his injuries, he allegedly became combative and began verbally abusing the doctors and support staff on duty.

The situation further escalated beyond verbal harassment, resulting in physical destruction of public property. The accused is alleged to have caused damage to medical equipment and hospital infrastructure during the outburst. Following the arrest by Mapusa Police, authorities have confirmed that a further investigation is currently underway to assess the full extent of the damages and proceed with the appropriate legal charges.
