Questions were raised by Hindu groups over the reopening of amusement rides at the Bodgeshwar Jatra in Mapusa, prompting authorities to clarify the status of permissions granted for the fair.
Mapusa Mamlatdar Anant Malik stated that out of the 10 amusement ride structures inspected, nine have received the necessary permissions and are allowed to operate after meeting the required safety and regulatory norms.
However, Malik confirmed that the popular attraction ‘Maut Ka Kua’ (Well of Death) has not been granted permission and will not be allowed to function during the jatra.
Authorities said the decision was taken in the interest of public safety and assured that all rides permitted to operate have undergone the required inspections. Officials also stated that safety norms would continue to be strictly monitored throughout the festival.
