NH-66 Turns Racing Track: Mapusa Police Book Two Riders Over Illegal Bike Racing

Two motorcycle riders have been booked by police after videos of them allegedly engaging in illegal late-night bike racing and performing dangerous high-speed stunts on NH-66 near Mapusa went viral on social media, raising serious concerns over public safety.

According to police, the riders were seen racing at excessive speeds on the busy highway during late-night hours, putting not only their own lives at risk but also endangering other motorists using the stretch. The videos quickly gained traction online, prompting authorities to initiate an investigation and identify those involved.

Following verification of the footage, police registered cases against the two accused for reckless and dangerous driving. Officials said such acts are a serious violation of traffic laws and can have devastating consequences, particularly on national highways where vehicles travel at high speeds.

In the wake of the incident, police have intensified night patrolling along NH-66 and other vulnerable stretches to curb illegal street racing and stunt riding. Authorities warned that anyone found participating in or encouraging such activities will face strict legal action.

Police have also appealed to motorists, especially young riders, to refrain from dangerous stunts and racing on public roads, emphasizing that highways are meant for safe travel and not for thrill-seeking activities. They further urged citizens to report similar incidents and share credible information that could help identify offenders.

The crackdown comes as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety and prevent accidents caused by reckless driving, with officials reiterating that public safety will remain their top priority.
