
Canacona Police arrested a man after seizing suspected narcotic substances worth ₹5.24 lakh during a raid conducted in the coastal town. The operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs as part of the ongoing drive against drug trafficking in the state.
According to police, the accused was found in possession of the contraband, which was allegedly intended for illegal sale. The seized drugs have been sent for forensic examination, and a case has been registered under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Investigators are probing the source of the narcotics and examining whether the accused has links to a larger drug trafficking network operating in Goa or neighbouring states. Police are also verifying whether the suspect was involved in supplying narcotics to tourists and local consumers.
The accused has been produced before the court for further legal proceedings, while the investigation continues. Police have reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-narcotics operations across the state to curb the illegal drug trade.
