St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar temporarily left his protest site at Azad Maidan to attend the crucial Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting. The move marks a strategic shift from street agitation to formal legislative discussions. Borkar is expected to formally present his core demands regarding the ongoing land planning dispute.
Earlier, Ganesh Gaonkar, the Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly, had explicitly asked Borkar to attend the BAC meeting and officially place his demands on record. The intervention by the Speaker underscores the legislative assembly’s intent to mediate the escalating deadlock outside the house.
The Speaker had also stated that the MLA could seek a half-hour discussion on the issue during the ongoing legislative proceedings. This window offers a dedicated platform for the controversial land zoning grievances to be addressed directly on the assembly floor.
Supporters and fellow protestors gathered around Borkar as he made his way from Azad Maidan to the meeting venue. While the dialogue marks progress, opposition members remain watchful on whether the committee will grant a favorable resolution to the public’s demands.
