Authorities have initiated action after a viral video showed a woman tourist being subjected to lewd and obscene gestures by a man at a beach in North Goa. The incident reportedly took place in the Calangute area, where the accused was seen behaving in an inappropriate manner and making offensive gestures towards the tourist.

Taking cognisance of the video, the Goa Tourism Department filed a formal complaint with Calangute Police. An FIR was subsequently registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 74, 75 and 79. Tourism officials reiterated their zero-tolerance policy towards harassment of tourists, particularly women.
Officials stated that strict action would be taken against anyone found engaging in behaviour that compromises the safety and dignity of visitors. Police have launched an investigation and are working to identify and apprehend the accused.
