Monsoon Fury Washes Away Chandel-Hasapur Service Road

Heavy monsoon rains have caused significant damage to the Chandel–Hasapur service road, with a portion of the road reportedly being washed away due to the continuous downpour. The incident has disrupted the movement of vehicles and prompted authorities to implement immediate traffic diversions to ensure commuter safety.

Following the damage, officials have diverted light motor vehicles through the newly constructed bridge in the area. Traffic personnel and local authorities are regulating vehicular movement to minimise congestion and ensure the safe passage of commuters.

The relentless rainfall has weakened road infrastructure in several parts of Goa, with overflowing streams and increased water flow posing challenges to transportation. Authorities are closely monitoring the affected stretch and are expected to undertake restoration work once weather conditions improve.

Commuters travelling through the Chandel–Hasapur route have been advised to exercise extreme caution, strictly follow traffic diversions, and comply with instructions issued by police and other authorities on the ground. Motorists are also urged to reduce speed, maintain safe distances, and remain vigilant while navigating slippery roads and waterlogged sections.

Residents have expressed concern over the damage caused by the monsoon, highlighting the need for timely repairs and long-term measures to strengthen vulnerable road infrastructure against heavy rainfall. Officials have assured that necessary steps will be taken to restore normal connectivity at the earliest while prioritising public safety.

With the India Meteorological Department forecasting continued rainfall across Goa, authorities have appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rain and stay updated with official traffic advisories. Commuters are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and cooperate with traffic management measures until the affected road is restored.
