Skeletal remains believed to be those of 85-year-old Lilavati Vadkar, who had been missing since November 16, 2025, were recovered from a forested area near Kumbarwada in Sancordem, police said.
During the recovery operation, police also found clothing and other personal belongings believed to be linked to the deceased. The remains have been sent to the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, for medico-legal examination to establish the exact cause of death and confirm the identity through further forensic procedures.
Police have launched a detailed investigation into the case and are examining all possible circumstances surrounding the woman’s disappearance and death. Officials stated that further action will depend on the findings of the medico-legal examination and the ongoing probe.
The discovery brings a significant development in a case that had remained unresolved since the elderly woman went missing late last year.
