Margao: A youth has been booked by the police after allegedly performing dangerous car stunts in a BMW before losing control of the vehicle and crashing into a Goa Police jeep in Margao. The incident, captured on video and widely shared on social media, has sparked concerns over reckless driving and public safety.
According to preliminary information, the youth was allegedly performing ‘donuts’—a dangerous driving manoeuvre in which a vehicle spins in tight circles—near a parked police jeep. During the stunt, the driver reportedly lost control of the luxury car, causing it to ram directly into the police vehicle.
The viral video of the incident shows the BMW spinning at high speed before colliding with the police jeep. Following the impact, police personnel who were inside the vehicle reportedly rushed out to assess the situation and ensure no one had been seriously injured.
However, before authorities could apprehend the driver, he allegedly fled the scene along with the damaged BMW. The incident triggered an immediate police response, and efforts were launched to identify and trace the accused.
Police have since registered a case against the youth for reckless and dangerous driving, causing damage to government property, and other relevant offences under the law. Officials are continuing their investigation to establish the full sequence of events and determine whether any additional charges are warranted.
The incident has reignited concerns over the growing trend of motorists performing dangerous stunts on public roads, often for social media content or entertainment. Such acts not only endanger the lives of those involved but also pose a serious risk to pedestrians, other motorists, and law enforcement personnel.
Authorities have reiterated that strict action will be taken against individuals found engaging in reckless driving, street racing, or stunt performances on public roads. Police have urged citizens to report such activities promptly, emphasizing that irresponsible driving can have severe consequences.
The investigation into the Margao incident is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as police continue their probe and work to bring the accused to justice.
