The agitation against the proposed Town and Country Planning (TCP) zone changes in St Andre is set to continue, with Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) chief Manoj Parab warning that the protest will not be called off until all changes proposed or approved under Section 39A of the TCP Act are withdrawn.
Addressing the ongoing movement, Parab said the party and local residents remain firm in their demand that the controversial zoning changes be scrapped. He asserted that the agitation would continue until the government responds to the concerns raised by the people.
The RGP chief also warned that if the demands of the protesters are not met, the agitation would be intensified. As part of the proposed escalation, he indicated that demonstrators may take their protest to the residence of Power Minister Vishwajit Rane, signalling a stronger phase of the campaign.
The remarks come amid growing opposition to the TCP zoning changes in the St Andre constituency. Residents and activists have expressed concerns over the potential impact of the proposed changes on land use, development, and the character of local communities. Protesters have called for greater transparency and wider public consultation before any such proposals are implemented.
The issue has emerged as a significant political and planning debate in Goa, with various groups voicing differing views on development policies and land-use regulations. The outcome of the protests could have wider implications for planning decisions in the state.
As public demonstrations continue, all eyes remain on the government’s response and whether discussions between the authorities and protesters can lead to a resolution.
The Goa Monitor will continue to monitor the developments and provide updates as the situation unfolds.
