Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that around 2,500 government vacancies have already been filled through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), while asking departments under Minister Vishwajit Rane to submit details of any remaining vacant posts for further action.
Sawant’s remarks come amid renewed political discussion over recruitment and staffing in government departments, with the issue of vacancies once again drawing public and political attention. The Chief Minister maintained that the government has already taken significant steps to fill vacant positions through the SSC process, but stressed that departments must provide updated vacancy data if additional recruitment is to be considered.
The statement also appeared to be directed at concerns raised over unfilled posts in departments handled by Vishwajit Rane, with Sawant making it clear that the next step depends on the submission of accurate vacancy details. His remarks underline the government’s position that recruitment can move forward only when departments formally communicate the number of posts still lying vacant.
The issue has gained political traction in recent days as discussions over government jobs, departmental staffing and recruitment procedures continue to dominate public discourse. In Goa, where public sector employment remains a major concern for many aspirants, the question of how quickly vacancies are identified and filled carries both administrative and political significance.
With the Chief Minister now calling for vacancy details from Rane’s departments, attention will shift to whether the information is submitted promptly and whether the government announces another phase of recruitment in response.
