Goa: Power supply was disrupted across several areas after a major transformer fault was reported at the Amona Substation, leaving residents and businesses without electricity for several hours.
According to preliminary information, the outage was caused by a major issue involving a transformer at the substation, affecting the distribution of electricity to multiple locations connected to the network. The disruption led to inconvenience for households, commercial establishments, and commuters, with many residents taking to social media to report prolonged power cuts.
Officials from the Electricity Department responded to the fault soon after it was detected and deployed technical teams to the substation to assess the damage and begin restoration work. Engineers are currently carrying out the necessary repairs and testing to ensure that power can be restored safely and efficiently.
Authorities have assured consumers that every effort is being made to restore electricity at the earliest. While the exact time for complete restoration has not yet been announced, officials said the situation is being monitored closely and work will continue until normal power supply is resumed.
Consumers have been advised to remain patient while repair work is in progress and to report any localised issues that may persist after the main supply is restored. The Electricity Department is expected to issue further updates as restoration efforts progress and normalcy is re-established.
