Former Goa minister Mickky Pacheco has announced that he will contest the upcoming Assembly elections from the Benaulim constituency, while his wife, Viola Pacheco, is set to enter the fray from Nuvem. The announcement comes amid fresh allegations surrounding the distribution of party tickets within the Congress.
Addressing the media, Mickky Pacheco confirmed that he would seek the mandate from Benaulim, while Viola Pacheco would contest from neighbouring Nuvem. The declaration has intensified political discussions, particularly in South Goa, where candidate selection has become a contentious issue.
Pacheco also levelled allegations over the Congress’ ticket allocation process, claiming that deserving party workers have been sidelined in favour of individuals with influence. He expressed dissatisfaction with the manner in which decisions are being taken, suggesting that the process lacks transparency and fairness.
The former minister’s remarks come at a time when political parties are preparing their strategies ahead of the Assembly elections, with candidate selection expected to play a crucial role in shaping electoral contests across the state.
While the Congress has yet to officially respond to Pacheco’s allegations, the comments have added to the growing debate over internal party dynamics and the selection of candidates for key constituencies.
With Mickky Pacheco and Viola Pacheco now publicly declaring their constituencies, political activity in Benaulim and Nuvem is expected to intensify in the coming months as parties gear up for the election battle.
The Goa Monitor will continue to track developments and provide verified updates as the political landscape evolves.
