Civil flight operations at Dabolim Airport will continue, with no proposal to hand over the entire airport to the Indian Navy, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has reportedly assured following concerns raised by Goa Minister Mauvin Godinho, according to sources.
The assurance came after apprehensions were expressed over the future of civilian operations at Dabolim Airport. Sources said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh clarified that there is no proposal under consideration to transfer the airport entirely to the Navy, ensuring that civil aviation services will continue as usual.
The clarification is expected to ease concerns among residents, businesses, and the tourism sector, as Dabolim Airport remains a key gateway for domestic and international travellers visiting Goa.
Officials have reiterated that there is no change in the existing arrangement, and civilian flight operations at the airport will continue alongside defence activities.
