Bardez: A fishing trip ended in tragedy after a 61-year-old man from Tivim was suspected to have drowned while fishing near a river close to St. Christopher’s Church in Bardez on Sunday evening.
The missing man has been identified as Narendra Sawant (61), a resident of Tivim. According to available information, Sawant had gone fishing near the river during the evening but failed to return home, prompting concern among his family members.
Fears of a possible drowning arose after Sawant’s fishing rod was discovered abandoned on the riverbank. The unattended fishing equipment led authorities to suspect that he may have accidentally fallen into the water while fishing.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police, along with rescue personnel and other concerned agencies, launched a search operation to trace the missing man. Teams searched the river and surrounding areas in an effort to locate him.
